  • Water temperature by season and depth
The water temperature at diving sites down to depths of 40 to 60 m is +6 to +2°C in June and +8 to +12°C in July. The thermocline lies at a depth of 60 to 80 m, starting from which the water temperature stays around 0°C.

The relief at the diving sites is diverse. There are vertical walls, which go down steeply or in steps to depths of 30 m or more, flat stony plateaux at depths of 20 to 50 m, and places where the bottom slopes and the depth increases gradually to 100 metres or more.
  • Visibility
The visibility at the diving sites ranges from 15 to 40 m.
  • Salinity
The water salinity in the Barents Sea is 32-35‰.
  • Streams
At most of the sites the currents are weak, but the Seven Islands area is famous for its strong benthonic currents.
